P4 Red Cone

If your looking for a view this trail is for you. Red Cone is one of the most iconic trails in central Colorado. Red Cone Trail is just outside Webster of off county road 60 via 285. You start off in the trees and follow a creek for a short while. The upper portion of the trail is above the tree line crossing the tundra @ around 12,000'. After following the ridge line you get to a great picture spot with a small parking lot. After you stop for a picture and maybe a mountain goat sighting you start a steep one way descent. You will eventually end up at a connecting trails for trail like Webster pass or the Montezuma trail system. Trailsoffroad rates this a 5. Depending on the snow pack you can exit Montezuma to Keystone or down Webster pass to 285. Meet up at the Shaggy Sheep for Breakfast @ 8 AM and leave for the trail @ 9. Be sure to bring lunch, water and plenty of sunscreen. Communication by GRMS radios on channel 4.
