P-4 Goes to Hole in the Rock
About this event
Hole in the Rock trail (rated 6 mandatory and 7 optional) near Halls Crossing, Utah. Drive easy and use a strap or winch when necessary. If someone breaks down we will attempt to do a trail fix and/or tow and can make a satellite call for assistance if necessary. Closest recovery assistance is in Moab. Camping will be primitive on 9/21 and 9/22. A few of us will be camping the night before and after at the Halls Crossing RV and Campground.
Be sure to bring plenty of water(2 gallons per person), sunscreen, bug repellent, food, first aid kit and the GMRS radio(channel 4). Self supporting tent, we may be camping on rock. Front and rear recovery points and recovery gear. We will gas up at the meeting location, check all rig fluids. Badge of Honor Trail.
Campfire: currently there is a Stage 1 fire ban(no open fires). If this ban is lifted by the time of our trip, if everyone brings a bundle we should have enough for campfires for the two nights.

Borrowed from Trails Offroad: "Imagine yourself in the slickrock of Moab. Now, on that one trail that tested your rig's abilities time and time again. Lastly, picture yourself on that epic multi-day adventure away from the stress of everyday life. Now, combine each of those aspects into one breathtaking bucket list-worthy opportunity. That is just the surface of this grandiloquent adventure. The Mormon Pioneers decided to try a shortcut from the town of Escalante to what is now the town of Bluff. 6 weeks planned was the journey that quickly became a 6-month mission to reach their final destination. Once they transported their wagons and equipment across the Colorado River (now Lake Powell) they found that their journey was about to become arduous. This journey will push you and your rig over the course of 16+ hours. Although it may be technical and demanding, be sure to bring your family.
