Most of you will think this odd in the extreme, but meeting new people from around the US who are working on "land use" or trail preservation at the first annual Land Use Summit was my highlight. Talking with people who know what we go through to maintain motorized access to trails always renews my passion. Knowing there really are others doing the work for all of us is invigorating. As the Director of Environmental Affairs for the United Four Wheel Drive Associations and as a director for COHVCO, I can easily put in 40 to 60 hours a week. Reading Environmental Impact Statements and Travel Plans from all over the country requires a lot of time. Then there is writing the comments about what has been read. Now we are building a new program (One Voice) to lobby congress and the land management agencies in DC. This has been taking a huge amount of time... but I believe the payoff will be more than worth the effort. I am looking forward to the All-4-Fun in Empire this year. I'm familiar with many of the trails in that area and know it will be fun.
