About the trail: Kingston is rated as a 4. Its significant feature is rocky shelf roads within the alpine tundra. There will be one climb of a rock garden with rocks and ledges up to 12” high, but most have alternate lines or slanted faces. Stock 4x4 vehicles welcome, but it’s strongly recommended to have full skid plating, due to the rocky nature of this trail in the tundra. Front and rear tow points required.
This is a popular trail with lots of traffic. Participants will enjoy a beautiful overlook with excellent vistas, an enchanted forest, and a rock house at 12,000 feet. It’s said that bringing a rock to add to the Rock House can bring you good luck. Beware of Lomie, the monster of Loch Lemond. It’s a shorter 5 mile long trail that moves along, often finishing at 1-2pm.

Meet point: Be ready to leave Marions of the Rockies, 2805 Colorado Blvd, Idaho Springs, CO 80452, at 9:30am. This means fueled up and ready to leave for the trail head. Many will be opting to arrive at Marion’s early for their excellent breakfast. If you want us to save you a seat or two, please let us know!
