Boulder County Fairgrounds Indoor Arena
P18 Members, prospective P18 members, and ladies thinking of getting their own Jeep and full membership are welcome!
This isn‘t the first time we‘ve met at an AKC dog show as a patrol, and we had a great time, so let‘s do it again! You can arrive whenever you wish that day--I‘m showing Z in the Indoor Arena starting at 8am. Wander around, watch 15+ rings of competition, visit dog-related vendors, and grab a treat from the many food trucks.
At 2:30pm, meet at the northeast corner of the Indoor Arena, on the bleachers by the restrooms. We will have a general business meeting, vote in our new members, go over some paperwork, and get to know each other!
After the meeting, we can go over to the main expo building to watch Groups and Best in Show, if you like. This is usually a bring-your-own-chair event.
Parking is free, and there is no admission fee.
2133 Redfield Circle, Longmont, CO

Caribou Creek opening and kiosk install. We will meet at the B & F market in Nederland at that meeting we‘ll assign tasks and leave for the trail
This is a great off-road trail that‘s close to Colorado Springs and provides a good challenge to vehicles that are a little more than stock but still offers some fun routes for more built rigs. There‘s also many trails in this area that you can explore that vary in level of difficulty. The drive up to the trail gives you great views of Colorado Springs. The first part of the trail consists of a large hill with rocks you must navigate through. There is a bypass for the first section, but the second area has similar rocks and some switchbacks. Most of the other obstacles have bypasses. There are a few creek crossings and areas that require you to squeeze through skinny spots in the trees. It‘s is an easy trip from the Springs but is also a nice getaway for camping.
Join us for an exhilarating day of wheelin down in Colorado Springs. We will meet up at the Natural Grocers 1604 S Nevada Ave, Colorado Springs at 9 and leave for the trail at 9:15. Its about 45 minutes from the meetup spot to the trail head. Plan on a long day if your from the Denver area. Bring plenty of water, GRMS Radio, sunscreen and food.
Trail Maintenance Run -
Please arrive at the USFS Ranger Station in Fairplay by the stated time, we will begin our drivers meeting at that time and then leave promptly afterwards.
This is a trail maintenance activity - please bring gloves, trash bags, shovels, hand saws (no chainsaws). Normally the opening isn‘t too bad on cleanup but we are looking at what has happened over the winter and what corrections are needed. Come expecting that we will stop and go and that some physical labor is expected.
Also remember that this trail requires a Colorado OHV sticker, and that the forest ranger will be with us.
Please register for the run so that we know you are coming.
Cancel if you‘re not going to be there.
Bring a lunch. Plan for weather to be variable (warm, cold, wet) and dress accordingly.
Front and rear tow points are required.
Sign up on this event to have your radio(s) programmed for the club frequencies after the parent club business meeting.
For members wanting to purchase their own radios the club suggests either the Baofeng UV82C radio or the Baofeng BF-888S handhelds.
For more information please see the radio communications page here https://mhjc.clubexpress.com/content.aspx?page_id=22&club_id=241053&module_id=731822

Upper Geneva Creek is a journey through striking alpine landscapes topped with a healthy dose of Colorado mining history. This trail passes through a peaceful valley popular for dispersed camping and climbs to elevations above 11,000 feet, where you can explore weathered remains of mining structures and seasonal towns that are now relics of Colorado’s gold rush days. Along the drive, you are offered the opportunity to hike to a natural marvel unique to only a handful of places on Earth: iron-rich wetlands that create an otherworldly scene with vibrant, rust-colored hues against lush greens and mountain tops. This high-altitude adventure is a rare blend of scenic beauty and rich history, making it a must-drive for anyone drawn to Colorado’s untamed spirit.
We will meet at the Shaggy Sheep Resturant 50455 US Hwy 285, Grant, CO 80448 at 8 for breakfast and we can leav for the trail at 9 for the trail head. There may be some work to do but usally not much (Unless you want to spend 2 hours shoveling snow only to go 50 more feet). Be sure to bring gloves, shovels, saws (not chain). As usual bring water, sunscreen and the GRMS radio.

HI! I‘m an Associate MHJC Member, based in ABQ, NM. My main peeps are the New Mexico 4 Wheelers, where I currently serve as Trip Chair. www.nm4w.org
This trip is open to members of NM4W and MHJC.
This trip will be a week-long Overlanding adventure tackling the Rimrocker Trail.

https://www.youtube.com/results?search_query=rimrocker+trail
The Rimrocker Trail, which runs from Moab, Utah to Montrose, Colorado, is considered easy and has a technical rating of 3. The trail is mostly made of graded dirt, but there are some rougher, unmaintained sections. The trail also includes rocky two-track, aspen groves, red rock, sheer cliffs, and rivers.
The Rimrocker Trail is 160 miles long and full of scenic vistas, historical sites, and great camping. It is only open in the summer months.
This Trail is often run by Jeeps or small/midsize trucks, with rigs sometimes pulling compact Overlanding trailers. While I do not expect to use lockers or winches, we will go prepared for anything.
While most folks run this trail west to east, beginning in Moab and ending in Montrose, I want to run it the other way -> east to west, beginning in Montrose and ending in Moab.
Please note my listing of this run as Moderate - the Rimrocker Trail on its own is relatively easy, however the general Overlanding and multi-day duration element of this trip will require a much higher level of commitment and preparation from participants than typical NM4Wer day runs.
This trip is limited to 10 rigs to allow for easier caravaning and camp site locations along the Trail.
The goal is to cover 30-40 miles of trail/day, depending on the wishes of the group.
***As of Feb. 21, 2025 - NM4W has 5 rigs going on the main run, with several folks still TDB. Pre-run from May 31 - June 3-ish in the planning stages.
Contact me if you‘re interested and I‘ll pass along full info. :-)
Physical installation of radios and antennas in member vehicles.
We will have MHJC volunteers available to help members install their radio equipment into their on vehicles. We‘ll have tools and knowledge available to help tune antennas and route cabling in your vehicle.
Note - owner will be required to drill all holes in the vehicle/trim/etc. themselves and is responsible for the end result. MHJC assumes no liability for anything which may happen as a result of the radio install. Our volunteers are assisting the owner to complete the task (not installing for you).
Owner must supply the HAM/CB/Commercial/GMRS Radio, Antenna, Brackets, Coax, 14 to 10ga wiring and wiring connectors. A list of recommended radios can be found on the Radio Programming event on the club calendar.
