Join P-4 as we hit Shelf Road and Phantom Canyon Road for a fun day with Dale leading the group. trail is rated a 1 but has some nice view near Canon City.
We will meet at Deckers Store, 8570 S Co Highway 67 in Deckers (At the junction of Highway 67 and Highway 126) We can begin gathering at 8:00 am and be ready to leave at 9:00 am. We will travel as a Group to Cripple Creek and stop at the beginning of “Shelf Road” to air down. Shelf Road is a historic off-road trail that explores the state‘s past and natural beauty. Once a pivotal route for freight and stagecoaches, the trail features scenery including striking limestone formations like the Window Rock, often visited by Rocky Mountain Bighorn Sheep. We will be treated to stunning valley views and dramatic drop-offs. Shelf Road weaves together history, heart-stopping off-road adventure, and the awe-inspiring wilderness, offering an unforgettable Colorado experience. We will be able to stop for lunch before heading back to the north on Phantom Canyon. We will navigate between towering, weathered cliff faces that shimmer in hues of rust, ochre, and slate. The rocky, unpaved terrain is a journey back in time, winding through evidence of the region‘s gold rush history. Remnants of wooden trestle bridges and abandoned mining structures are interspersed along the route as poignant reminders of a bygone era. The drive is a symphony of geological wonder and historical intrigue, surrounded by views of the rocky canyon blanketed in vibrant, local vegetation patches. This trip includes the awe-inspiring view of boulders stacked haphazardly by nature‘s hand, Phantom Canyon Road is a historical experience and a gem in Colorado‘s off-roading scene. Both of these roads are shelf roads but are wide enough for two way traffic with a few exceptions such as going through the tunnels.
Be sure to bring water, sun sunscreen and GRMS radio. We will have extra radios if for those who don‘t have one.
BoD monthly meeting, this meeting is open to all club members, should they wish to attend.
All-4-Fun Committee Meeting
Join P-4 as we hit one fun trail in the Buena Vist area one of my favs. the trail is rated 6-8 with a couple of bypasses. Yansing Gulch, previously known as Chinaman Gulch, is a very popular, difficult rock crawling trail ideal for testing the limits of modified vehicles. Minimal snow to the area makes it a great location for winter wheeling. There are many obstacles and rocks to play on along this 4WD trail, many of which provide multiple lines from intermediate to extremely difficult. Although not very scenic, the occasional views of the Collegiate Peaks are astonishing. This trail is a great trail for groups as the main obstacles provide enough room for vehicles to pull out of the way and watch other vehicles attempt the obstacle.
We wll meet up at the Sinclar in Fairplay at 8 and depart for the trail at 8:15 Be sure to bring lunch, water, sunscreen and a GRMS Radio.
RAM Offroad Park
12750 State Hwy. 94
Colorado Springs, CO 80929
Going to play at the RAM Offroad Park in Colorado Springs before our patrol meeting. We‘ll expect to wrap up about 4:00pm and head over to the meeting.
https://www.ramoffroadpark.com/
There is a $20 fee that can be paid in advance and a digital waiver you need to fill out.
The park offer a large number of different obstacles to play on, so we should be able to find something to challenge most vehicles. We‘re never more than a few hundred yards from the parking lot if you want to just watch.
It is a great place to come out and try new mods without being way far back in the woods.
As usual we suggest front and rear tow points; working 4-wheel-drive.
Date change to Saturday, May 9, 2026. Host - Ben & Christy Cooper, 1075 No. Yoder Rd., Yoder, CO 80864. Meet at RAM Off Road Park. Play around for a couple of hours then off to the Cooper‘s in Yoder for individually created pizzas. Bring a dish, dessert or beverage to share.

Balanced Rock is an easy to moderate trail for the newer wheelers who are looking to get more experience and have a great time while doing it! Expect to be on this adventure for around 5 hours (including a lunch break).
Everyone is welcome to enjoy this beautiful trail in the Rampart Range network, but don‘t expect big obstacles if that‘s what you‘re looking for. You‘re also welcome to bring passengers - just be mindful that they are your responsibility.

Join Patrol 4 for our annual Greenhorn run on Slaughterhouse Gulch. Patrol 3 will co-host the event. Meet up at Loaf & Jug 173 Bulldogger Rd, Bailey, CO 80421 @ 9:30 depart @ 10 AM. for the trailhead. P-4 will be providing lunch, Meatball Subs and Sausage, peppers, and onions along with sides and dessert. Bring a chair, water and sunscreen. This trail is suitable for most stock Jeeps.
Slaughterhouse Gulch is a locally famous off-road trail near Bailey, CO, attracting locals in droves most weekends. The loop has several small obstacles, making it perfect for a day of climbing rocky sections and flexing out your suspension. Though the trail isn‘t particularly scenic, it does offer beautiful aspen groves that turn gold in the fall, drawing leaf-peepers. A large parking area and proximity to Highway 285 and County Road 43 make it ideal for large groups. Bring a GRMS radio if you have one. We will have some radios to lend.
